Blessings
Thoughts to Ponder

Throughout the Bible we can read about God and His blessings on His people. Have you ever wondered if and even how God may have blessed you?

My wife Elaine and I were talking the other day and she made a very interesting observation. It was that people tended to think that the only manner in which God can or even does bless a person is through financial gain. Of course then most people would say that God has never blessed them because they have not received a financial gain. It is sad to think that God’s own people, who He saved through His Son Jesus, think that He has not blessed them simply on the evidence of financial gain.

The Holman Bible Dictionary tells us that the word “Beatitude” comes from a Latin word meaning “happy” or “blessed.” Various forms of the word “bless” are used many times in both the Old and New Testaments. In the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:3-12 is the passage known as the Beatitudes. The Beatitudes are not to be seen as separate blessings for different believers. All the Beatitudes are to be applied and developed in all disciples both now and in the future. Each Beatitude carries with it a strong promise of ultimate good for those who develop the blessed life.

In the study of God’s Word and the experiences of life as a believer we can and will truly know the blessings of God. All of them and not just the ones that bless us financially.
